Cast Me Out
05:17
|
|||
Cast me out
Leave me in no doubt that
I was on the right track
You won't let me back
Speak my truth
Throw it in your face
Put you in your place
I will bring all my hate
And tear you down
There's no stopping me
I will be free to
Call out your misdeeds
Shed my light
I must make this right
I will take my time
Pull you apart
Expose every crime
I will hang you out to dry
And now we're dying on the inside
We are rotten to the core
We are lying to our children
We no longer hold the flame
And you're the ones to blame
Your corruption runs deep
It begins to seep into
All that I hold dear
But I no longer fear
Your destruction is at hand
Not what you planned but
All it takes is a good man
To stand out from the crowd
And now we're dying on the inside
We are rotten to the core
We are lying to our children
We no longer hold the flame
And you're the ones to blame

Crystal Wheels
05:58
|
|||
The room was so much brighter than the day
But it did not hurt my eyes
I couldn't think of anything to say
So I quietly analysed
I was aware that there were wheels within the wheels
Each wheel a colour unlike the next
I heard a voice somewhere to my left
He spoke of endings and the need to reflect
I wasn't ready to take his hand
I could feel my body fighting for its life
I asked if there was anything that could be done
He said maybe son, yeah he said maybe son
I'm negotiating
With the man of the crystal wheels
It's a conversation
I'm trying to cut some sort of a deal
He seems very insistent
I refuse to go without a fight
This is my very existence
I will not step into the light
I turned so I could look him in the eye
He said I didn't really have a choice
I told him I'd like to see him try
He never blinked but he did start to smile
He told me an arrangement could be met
If I could just be a better man
He said there were so many battles still to be won
And I said maybe son, yeah I said maybe son
I'm negotiating
With the man of the crystal wheels
It's a conversation
I'm trying to cut some sort of a deal
He seems very insistent
I refuse to go without a fight
This is my very existence
I will not step into the light
I don't wanna go yet
So much to see, so much to do
I don't wanna go yet
I've got to get back to you
I'm negotiating
With the man of the crystal wheels
It's a conversation
I'm trying to cut some sort of a deal
He seems very insistent
I refuse to go without a fight
This is my very existence
I will not step into the light

Directors Cut
03:58
|

Although there are many twists and turns
This play has a beginning, a middle and an end
I can’t possibly know how it all pans out
Just when I think I’ve got it all figured it out
Something unexpected throws me into doubt
The story hasn't been written yet
I pray that we are allowed to live and to regret
The parts we played, the lines we read
The actors we followed to the bitter end
The edits left on the cutting room floor
The extras that we were told to ignore
I walk around, script in my hand
The producers ploughed in the money, they get to choose how it all ends
The plot makes no sense but we carry on
I see our conclusion but not where we're from
The stars of the show must think the audience is really dumb
The story hasn't been written yet
I pray that we are allowed to live and to regret
The parts we played, the lines we read
The actors we followed to the bitter end
The edits left on the cutting room floor
The extras that we were told to ignore

Glass
03:12
|
|||
I would walk for as long as it takes
As far as it takes
As long as it takes me to you
I would run just as fast as I could
You know that I would
In the hope that I'd run into you
I would stand up and face them all
You know I won't fall
I've already fallen for you
I would crawl on my hands and my knees
Through glass if you please
As long as you needed me

The Flood
04:20
|
|||
I looked across the baron land
We were few and we longed for more
As preasure grew
Our numbers did too
An army is hard to ignore
We've been sidelined
We've been censored
We've been called many names
We stood like rocks
Against the tide
We refused to take your blame
Here comes the flood
We can no longer sit in silence
We must push back against the flow
Everyday we increase in number
It's not who you are, it's what you know
I hear you cry for amnesty
You want to forgive and forget
But what we knew
You could have known too
Pretend that you're full of regret
We were hounded
With claims unfounded
You wanted to ostracize
But now it's clear
That we were right
You want us to ignore the lies
Here comes the flood
We can no longer sit in silence
We must push back against the flow
Everyday we increase in number
It's not who you are, it's what you know

A bachelor most eligible
An orator most knowledgeable
A lawyer who was held in high standing
A politician full of warmth and understanding
A deal was struck incomprehensible
Associates indefensible
Moral ground called into question
Mortally wounded by the very suggestion
He hung his head in shame
His life would never be the same
Mr Barrington was a good man
But he fell out of favour
With the people in the circles where he ran
Mr Barrington was full of pride
But when things went south, so did he
He chose to run away and hide
He sold everything and bought a ship
Hired captain and crew for a southern trip
The Antarctic was calling, his freedom assured
His smile returned as soon as he was on board
He no longer hung his head in shame
His life would never be the same
Mr Barrington was a good man
But he fell out of favour
With the people in the circles where he ran
Mr Barrington was full of pride
But when things went south, so did he
He chose to run away and hide
One hundred and ninety days due south
In search of the volcanic mount
It stood alone bringing warmth to the ice
Were they the first to scale its heights
The first to scan beyond the wall
The first to view the icebergs tall
In another sea
Mr Barrington had truly found a mystery
|
||||
7. |
||||
The decision was taken
Head for the passage in the wall
But for four days without respite
The harshest gale did fall
In the fierceness and the blackness
They feared that they would wreck
Impossible to see
The topmast from the deck
When the storm finally eased
The wall could not be seen
Entirely lost their reckoning
Adrift 'til day fourteen
At last the wall returned to view
The crew felt such relief
They could see the opening passing through
Intact was their belief
Guarded by two promontories
Standing tall and vast
Between Scylla and Charybdis
They would have to pass
They sailed to take a cautious look
But the wind had all but stalled
The current took hold upon the boat
And dragged them through the wall
For weeks they travelled in the hope to find
The edge of the enclosed sea
But as weather grew milder
It was clear that it wasn’t to be
They navigated straight and true
Two months since they’d passed through
Birds and driftwood told their tale
To the horizon and its lights
They would have to sail

The moment he stepped out upon the land
The wonders and the knowledge he could not understand
The mastery of his fellow man
He has to learn all that he can
The port of Corinthus, its secrets untold
Incredible sights, barely two centuries old
He met the Director Of Navigation
The Iron Republic was a truly great nation
The State was made for the man
Not the man for the State
They're doing all they can
To make The Iron Republic great
Horseless carriages silently travel
Trains with no drivers at incredible speeds
Newswires heard, on demand they're supplied
Personal sails allow the people to fly
To Ironia, the capital city
To meet Professor Morris who could answer his queries
He could not fathom how this place was designed
While the country of his origin remained far behind
The State was made for the man
Not the man for the State
They're doing all they can
To make The Iron Republic great
All of this could be yours
If it wasn't for your innate greed
It's sewn within your very fibre
Your rich get richer, your poor will suffer
The State was made for the man
Not the man for the State
They're doing all they can
To make The Iron Republic great
Polite conversation
A most pleasant time
Talk of the world he left behind
What wonders anew tomorrow would find?
Then, in she walked and the fog descended upon his mind
|
||||
9. |
||||
As she entered the room
Mr Barrington was deprived of thought
And words it seemed
Were lost to his befuddled mind
As they were introduced
Her touch and smile had him reduced
To a child again
Seeing the world for the very first time
In silence they sat alone
Bewitched by her charms
He shuffled his feet
And wondered how his life had turned around
It all felt like a dream
This place and its secrets
And there she was, his life was transformed
He craved to remain within this delirium
Don't pinch me
Though nothing is as it seems
Don't wake me from this dream
I want to stay right here forever
No don't pinch me
Though we are worlds apart
You're reached through and grabbed my heart
I can't see past this moment
I wish to stay asleep forever
If it be then that the seeming
Has more of beauty than the real
If only it be in dreaming
I may find the Land o'Leal
May I not continue dreaming
Weren't not cruel to wake again
Is not bliss even in the seeming
Preferable to real pain
Don't pinch me
Though nothing is as it seems
Don't wake me from this dream
I want to stay right here forever
No don't pinch me
Though we are worlds apart
You're reached through and grabbed my heart
I can't see past this moment
I wish to stay asleep forever

He could not sleep
The events of the day on constant replay
He could not sleep
A trip to the city
She was charming and witty
She sided with him
Whenever he and her father did speak
A year had past
She'd declared her love for Mr Barrington
But it, could never last
There was another and her heart was already won
Professor Hallam, he was a good man
The most musically gifted in all of the land
Professor Hallam would make her his bride
Though it broke his heart Mr Barrington knew it was right
Fifteen hundred feet above the plane
Distant mountains could be seen and his heart did pound
Through sunny fields the rivers wound there way
And through villages and towns
He'd never loved her more than he did right now
She laughed as she flew them higher and higher
But something was wrong and the sail it spiralled down
The frame did crack and the canvas was ripped asunder
Professor Hallam, he was a brave man
Flew his sail beneath them to save his love
Professor Hallam he would give his life
Though it broke his bones he knew that it was right
|
||||
11. |
||||
She was devastated
But she tried to move on
Though her heart was lost
She married Mr Barrington
Her Mother and her Father
Thought it might be better
If they left the Republic
And travelled to America
Melancholy
It was folly
He could not reach her
On his knees he beseeched her
He tried to break through the sadness she felt
He feared that her mind would slowly unwind
He cradled her and tried to make her see
The music she could hear was just a fantasy
She would not drink, she would not eat
For days she refused to speak
With brief clarity she would apologise
But she'd lost the fire in her eyes
He cradled her and tried to make her see
The music she could hear was just a fantasy
But it played on and on around her head
She couldn't hear the words that he said
Professor Hallam's muse would rather be dead
Than live in a world where
All the hymns had been sung
And the words had been read
The race had been run
And at the setting of the sun
She slipped from his grasp
A mountain of Ice and snow
Loomed up from the water line
Two pinnacles like crystal spires
Cathedral of glass sublime
The black sea sobbed and moaned
At the base of the giant berg
Above the wind sang about the ice
Her music could now be heard
He begged the crew to leave him with
The marble Queen upon her crystal throne
But cruel in their kindness they dragged him away
Back to the ship and back to home
Aurora sprang up around them
The black sea it turned to gold
The crystal mausoleum far behind
His story to be told

Truth Rebranded

Everyone has their version of the truth
But when you ask them for further proof
That's when things can get a little tricky now
Look around for the exit 'cause it's sticky now
You fall silent in the hope that
Someone else will throw their hat into the ring
'Cause you have no answer to the basic things
No-one pays attention to the info you bring
Can't you see the tide is turning
Rules have changed and it's you that is hurting
Called your bluff and now we're learning
Truth is rebranded
The world gets stranger every day
Values get eroded in every single way
When we find the courage to call you out
See it on your face, you're full of doubt
Better take your crazy back
To the echo chamber with all the other clowns
'Cause you have no answer to the basic things
No-one pays attention to the info you bring
Can't you see the tide is turning
Rules have changed and it's you that is hurting
Called your bluff and now we're learning
Truth is rebranded
